Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmygal said the country’s Social Insurance Fund had ceased operations to reduce “extra government spending”. Shmyhal announced this at a government meeting, reports DEA News.

“We continue with social reform. With the decision of the government, we terminate the activities of the Social Security Fund as required by law and incorporate it into the Pension Fund. “We are systematically reducing unnecessary government spending,” he said.

The Prime Minister believes that such a measure would make the social support mechanism “more efficient and effective, adapted to today’s realities”.
