Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said that Moscow will wait for the final parameters of the EU embargo, as Europe does not understand how it can replace Russian oil products. He said this in an interview TASS.

As the deputy prime minister noted, Europe was Russia’s main market for oil products.

“We’ll see what decisions they’ll make in the end. It’s not clear to us yet what they’re going to replace our fuel with,” Novak said.

At the same time, the Russian side stressed that it does not exclude allowing some European countries to supply oil products from Russia.

As an example, he cited the oil-related situation of oil refineries in Bulgaria, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, where pipeline supplies are not subject to restrictions. Even Germany and Poland, which have announced that they will phase out Russian oil, have applied for pumping for 2023.

The embargo on the import of Russian petroleum products in Europe will come into effect on February 5.

Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak had said that he expects a sharp rise in the prices of petroleum products in Europe after the embargo on Russian oil products came into force.
