HeadHunter: 15% of companies leave the corporate side to pay bonuses to their employees

Some employers in Russia – 15% of companies – have decided to cancel the New Year’s corporate party to pay bonuses to employees. This is due to a survey among employees of Russian companies conducted by the hh.ru recruitment service. socialbites.ca learned about the results.

“15% of companies announced the cancellation of the corporate party with a willingness to use the money planned for the corporate party to pay bonuses (13th salary) to employees. 6% – the desire to send this money to charities. Another 3% ticked the “other” option, specifically writing that the cancellation of the corporate party was a collective decision, associated with the start of restructuring in the company and even the dismissal of the employee responsible for the vacation. In 30% of companies where the corporate side was noted, this decision was never disclosed to employees. Among other reasons for the cancellation of the event was the lack of a festive mood in the team or in the budget, ”the hh.ru press service said.

hh.ru announced that the cancellation of the New Year’s corporate party was most often reported by employees of companies in the Siberian Federal District (20% of participants). We never planned to hold a corporate party at companies in the Northwest Federal District. This was reported by 54% of those surveyed.

hh.ru also learned about the Russian reaction to employers’ decisions to cancel corporate parties.

More than a third of those surveyed – 34% – agreed with this decision. According to them, now is not the right time for events. Another 19% of respondents rated the decision to pay bonuses as the most appropriate decision in the current environment. 18% of the participants said that they were not in a holiday mood. The remaining participants opposed the cancellation of the corporate party. They stated that they are in a festive mood and that the traditions of celebrating the New Year cannot be replaced by any awards.

“At the same time, if it were necessary to choose between a corporate party and a bonus, 86% of respondents would immediately choose a financial bonus without hesitation. And only 14% prefer a vacation to money, ”hh.ru summarized.

The hh.ru survey was conducted among 2,676 employees of Russian companies from 7 to 22 December 2022.
