NielsenIQ: Russians began to massively refuse to buy ready meals due to the desire to save money

According to the results of this year’s eleven months, sales of frozen ready meals decreased by 21.4% compared to the same period of 2021. One of the main reasons was the desire of the Russians to save money on the backdrop of an escalating crisis in the country. informs Rossiyskaya Gazeta refers to NielsenIQ statistics.

“In the January-November period, sales of frozen meals decreased by 21.4% on a physical basis. <….> In addition to rejecting cafes, restaurants, and fast food delivery, nearly half (45%) started buying less ready-to-eat food,” says Stuff.

However, the desire of citizens to save money on food purchases caused an increase in instant noodle sales. Physically, its sales increased 6.1% from January to November. For comparison, growth was only 1.7% in the same period of 2021.

November 28 Analysts of the All-Russian Center for Public Opinion (VTsIOM) sent Results of a sociological survey in which almost a quarter (24%) of Russians admit to saving food since March 2022. Another 11% of respondents said they were more acknowledging that they have started saving on food purchases since the escalation of the conflict in Ukraine.
