German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that the European Union (EU) has decided to introduce a minimum tax rate for large companies. His words at the press conference after the EU summit in Brussels, TASS.
“We are now finally implementing a project close to my heart in Europe – the global minimum taxation of large corporations,” Scholz said, noting that this is an important step for global tax justice.
The German Chancellor also reminded that while he was still the finance minister, he defended this agreement and negotiated it within the framework of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).
This measure obliges international companies with sales of at least €750 million per year to pay a tax of at least 15%.
