Russian Railways has offered to derail 170,000 wagons as it reduces the efficiency of cargo movement due to logistical changes. About author RBC cited the testimony of Mikhail Glazkov, deputy general director of the company, head of the traffic control central directorate.
“By our calculations, 170,000 wagons are an extra fleet on public rails. If we get rid of this park, the maneuverability and efficiency of freight transport by rail will be much higher. 170,000 cars – 13% of the total fleet in the network,” said Glazkov.
According to him, it is possible to organize production when using optimal indicators of the number of cars on the railways. In addition, rolling stock refurbishment now goes much faster than obsolete cars fail. Therefore, to improve the transport situation, it is necessary to increase the number of stations where empty cars can be forcibly collected to 160.
He added that extra wagons can be stored on the tracks of industrial rail transport (PPZhT). But it is more convenient for wagon owners to keep them on public tracks. For this reason, an option is being considered, such as increasing the mud content on public rails, in order to encourage wagon owners to pay attention to empty rail businesses.
On October 10, Kommersant referred to a letter sent from the Center for Branded Transport Services of Russian Railways (CFTO) to the Association of Railway Transport Operators (SOZhT). WroteRussian Railways plans to carry the maximum wagons with increased carrying capacity to the Vostochny range in order to accelerate the export of goods.
