Guillaume Faury, CEO of aircraft manufacturer Airbus, said at a shareholders’ meeting that a ban on titanium imports from Russia would be “unacceptable”. Reuters.
It was emphasized that the company called on Western countries not to impose an embargo on the supply of this material. It buys 60% of the titanium used in aircraft construction in the Russian Federation.
Faury told shareholders that Airbus is looking for alternative suppliers and that in the medium term the organization can do without additional purchases due to the inventories built up.
Former Boeing Company decided to suspend purchases of titanium from Russia and Technical support of Russian airlines.
Thus, the company suspended cooperation with the world’s largest titanium producer, VSMPO-AVISMA. Previously, the parties signed a strategic partnership memorandum, in which the Russian company was registered as a key supplier for all new and some existing models of civil aircraft Boeing Commercial Airplanes (777X).
