Romanian refineries have been processing only non-Russian oil since last week. This was stated at a press conference by Energy Minister Virgil Popescu, Wrote agency AGERPRES.

Popescu emphasized that the ceiling on raw material procurement prices from Russia, which came into force on 5 December, would not harm Romania.

“We did not wait for December 5, but we had a lot of negotiations with companies, and since last week all oil refineries in Romania process only non-Russian oil, which means that Romania is independent of Russian oil,” said the minister.

In addition, the head of the Romanian Ministry of Energy said that the meeting of energy ministers of the European Union (EU) will be held on December 13, where they will discuss the ceiling on imported gas prices across Europe, regardless of country. origin.

He added that Bucharest does not agree with the European Commission’s (EC) proposal to introduce a 275-euro limit. Popescu described this limit as an “invitation to higher prices”.
