Despite Western sanctions, Russia’s only turbomolecular pump manufacturing plant in Vladimir has announced that it is ready for import substitution.
For five years, the company has been producing turbomolecular pumps that can pump out air molecules or other gases at great speed. They are also indispensable in the production of microelectronics, the chemical industry and pharmaceuticals. Vacuum installations are used in many high-tech developments and when testing spacecraft.
“Our company also has previous low-capacity pumps – we are modernizing and updating it. We also opened a new direction – these are chemically protected pumps. That is, the pump works with aggressive gases. Such pumps are used in the chemical industry and electronics industry,” said Ilya Shiryaev, chief designer of vacuum technology.
The equipment is almost completely assembled from Russian-made parts. The company produces about 200 pieces per year. Pumps can replace foreign analogues from Germany, China and Japan.
“The main market for our products is, of course, Russian companies and enterprises. However, lately, there has been a great interest by the countries of India, China, Malaysia. For this reason, we hope that our products will be supplied abroad as well.”
As stated in the Department of Economic Development, almost 30% of the region’s businesses are already preparing for import substitution.
“Our businesses have formed their bids for the range of products they are ready to offer in exchange for foreign companies leaving the market. We have already collected offers from more than 50 businesses in terminology between 300 and 500 items. These are products related to both mechanical engineering and the chemical industry,” he said.
In the near future, it is planned to establish competence centers for import substitution in the region. There businesses will be able to work with the scientific community by continually increasing the volume of new products.
