Residents of the European part of Russia, as a rule, tend to cross the border into Kazakhstan through one of five checkpoints in the Orenburg region – Orskoye (on the Orsk-Aktobe highway), Sagarchin (Orenburg-Aktobe), Ilek (Orenburg -Uralsk), “Mashtakovo” (Samara – Uralsk) and “Teploe” (Buzuluk – Uralsk). We’ve gathered information this week on what the situation looks like on each of the points.
Orskoe
Eyewitnesses say the traffic jam is more than 300 cars, it takes about a day to be in the traffic jam. According to other sources, at one point the waiting time increased to two days, and a place in the queue can be purchased for 30,000 rubles. People regret that they did not bring thermal underwear and gloves – at night the steppe wind pushes through and through, reports the lenta.ru source. Some Russians are “deployed” at border control on the basis that the person has served in the military. The presence of the agenda does not matter.
sagarchin
There are many cars – according to the correspondent of ural56.ru, the traffic jam stretched for 15 kilometers. Many go on foot – taxis take people to the front of the line, the border guards won’t let them go any further. It takes more than four hours to get through the traffic jam on foot; some go with families – with women, children, strollers and dogs. In about four days you drive through traffic jams. During the week, anyone was allowed in, there were no restrictions, no subpoena was issued.
Ilek
At the start of the week, the traffic jam was 16 kilometers long and there were about 1,200 people in the pedestrian line at the checkpoint. Taxi drivers will take you to a nearby gas station for 100 rubles. Traffic flow has been greatly slowed down by those trying to skip the line. A place in the queue is offered to buy for 50,000 rubles.
Mashtakovo
Trucks are allowed to pass through the checkpoint, but cars and pedestrians cross the border in very limited numbers; according to one of the eyewitnesses, almost one person per hour is let through, reports mgorod.kz. At the moment, the traffic jam on the Russian side was more than 30 kilometers. Eyewitnesses call the conditions “infernal”: people abandon cars, rent tow trucks, buy groceries and gasoline at exorbitant prices, cook food on burners, build huts and warm up by fire.
hot
To cross the border, people spend 4-5 days sleeping in cars and lighting roadside fires. Also in the barrel of the burner, on which you can heat canned food or porridge. Inhabitants of border villages cook hot food and sell it to those in line. 5 liters of gasoline in a traffic jam is sold for 1,000 rubles (a little more than 8,000 tenge). Sometimes a car with food arrives – everything is very expensive, but it is picked up in seconds, they say at the border. If you drive off somewhere they don’t let you back in line, they send you to the end. Many leave “to nowhere” to cross the border.
How much does it cost to travel from the checkpoint to a city in Kazakhstan?
Now from the checkpoint “Mashtakovo” (“Syrym” from Kazakhstan) to the city of Uralsk in Kazakhstan you can take a taxi for 1000 rubles, and at the beginning of the week it was twice as expensive – 2000 rubles or 16 thousand tenge. Potential customers wait for about forty taxi drivers, they have their own queue, according to which they provide services.
- And in a traffic jam on the border with Georgia, a spontaneous car market arose.
