By the end of 2024, AVTOVAZ plans to launch production of a new Lada B-class family, but the current Grant will remain in the lineup. The new model will occupy a different, slightly higher niche, and Grant will close the low-cost segment. However, after the “anti-sanctions” restart of production in the line of engines – only an eight-valve with 90 hp …
And what about the more productive 16-valve engines? Recall that Grants previously included a 98-horsepower engine, with which the Jatco automatic transmission was merged, and a 106-horsepower engine, combined with mechanics. AvtoVAZ president Maxim Sokolov told Za Rulem editor-in-chief Maxim Kadakov about the engine plans.
For front-wheel drive vehicles, we still only produce the VAZ‑11182 8-valve engine. In the first half of 2023, we will launch a 16-valve engine,” said Sokolov.
Obviously, restarting production of 16-valve engines is fraught with problems replacing components from foreign manufacturers – especially Federal Mogul pistons and Bosch injectors.
The head of the enterprise indicated that the French HR16 engine, which was partially located at AvtoVAZ before the crisis, could not be mastered in the near future. But AvtoVAZ also has “other options”, information that will be made public a little later.
- AVTOVAZ announced a massive recruitment – they want to recruit up to 4,000 people for various positions.
