Vladimir Matyagin, chairman of the National Association of Freight Road Transport “Gruzavtotrans”, appealed to Russian President Vladimir Putin and wrote a letter to the State Duma requesting that the mobilization of truck drivers be banned, the National News Service reports.
Matyagin is concerned that specialists from transport companies are mobilized. As a rule, people of military age who have served in the army and have a certain specialty work there as drivers. There is a risk that soon there will be no one and nothing left to transport goods.
Surprisingly, Ministry of Defense drivers were also subject to partial mobilization. They take away those who take equipment from the sites of hostilities for repairs to the territory of Russia or are involved in the restoration of damaged structures. Despite already working for the defense industry.
“Drivers are being taken away, it is impossible to quickly find a replacement for them, cars are standing still and transport companies are piling up credit and lease obligations. The country’s leadership must help, not put a spoke in the wheel. Business cannot be left face to face with contractors and creditors, entrepreneurs are not responsible for this situation,” said Matyagin.
Now in some small companies, where ten cars are on the balance sheet, five mobilization workers are being removed. Something has to be done, special reservations have to be put in place immediately, because by the time the state kicks in, the people are already in the special operations zone. Until now, there is no understanding on this matter.
Meanwhile, due to the reorientation of traffic to Asian destinations, more drivers are needed as the range of rides increases.
