Weaknesses of Iranian engines mentioned

Should I buy Iranian cars? They look neat in the pictures, but what’s in them: in the cabin, under the hood? This was told by the expert of “Behind the wheel”, the oldest and most authoritative automobile publication in Russia, Sergey Zinoviev.

The latest versions have enough electronics, but without complex and expensive solutions. This also applies to finishes. Like most Russians, Iranians don’t need expensive cars. They don’t. Budget cars there, in terms of rubles, cost 500-600 thousand.

Engine features:

The same approach applies to engines: “old isn’t bad.” Thus, the proven French naturally aspirated engines TU5 1.6 and XU7 1.8 are in use, which, most likely, will come to us in the first place. The only doubt is that they have been modernized, and it’s still hard to say how this affected their reliability.

TU5

TU5 will be very appealing to Russian motorists who do not change their car for 7 years or more. It has a cast iron block, 16 valves, there are hydraulic compensators … It easily covers 300 thousand or more miles, and then, after a major service, which is easily admissible, the same number.

XU7

The XU7 has an aluminum block with all the trimmings. Unfortunately, it does not tolerate frost very well, but there are already enough spare parts for it in Russia. The weak point of the engine are the ignition coils.

EF

The range of Iranian-designed EF engines also inspires confidence. It was developed 14 years ago, before the global crisis, together with the German company FEV Engine Technology. The choice is very wide, right down to turbo petrol engines and turbo diesels. Part of it is ready for conversion to gas (methane).

As you can see, the Iranian motorcycle lines are very diverse. If you want, you can buy a car with an 8-valve turbo engine (!), which you won’t find with any other car manufacturer.
