It is necessary to replace the driver’s licenses of citizens of the Russian Federation whose validity period has expired or will expire between January 1, 2022 and December 31, 2022. The press center of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs warned about this, writes TASS.
The period for automatic renewal of driver’s licenses in the country ends this year. Against this background, the agency’s journalists sent a request to the ministry asking for comments on the situation.
“Driving licenses with an expiration date in column 4b between January 1, 2022 and December 31, 2025 are considered valid throughout the Russian Federation for three years from this date,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs said in a response letter.
It follows from the text that holders of such certificates are obliged to replace them after three years have passed from this date. The Ministry announced that otherwise they would stop their activities on Russian territory.
According to the current legislation in the country, citizens who drive with an invalid driver’s license face a fine of up to 15 thousand rubles. Additionally, such drivers may be suspended from driving until their license is reinstated.
At the same time, in order to change the certificate, Russians must undergo a medical examination and pay a fee. They will also need to visit the State Traffic Inspectorate office.
Previously in Russia augmented fines for violation of traffic rules.
