The idea of increasing penalties for Russian drivers because they do not have the MTPL policy will not have the desired effect. About this in an interview with NSN said Konstantin Krokhmal, head of the public system “Ensuring Road Safety”.
In his opinion, such a measure might have worked 10 years ago, but now it makes no sense. The expert is confident that increased penalties can only have a one-time effect.
“Fraudsters are ready to increase penalties for OSAGO policies. <...> Bots, fake accounts, photocopies, etc. will be used, everything was already invented a long time ago, it will have no effect,” said Krokhmal.
He added that the cost of an MTPL policy should not exceed 2.5 thousand rubles.
