Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Boris Chernyshov sent an appeal to Russian Minister of Transport Roman Starovoyt, in which he proposed to increase the tax on cars whose exhaust system has been deliberately modernized to increase the sound of exhaust gases. This was reported by RIA Novosti.
The deputy proposed introducing an increased tax coefficient for such cars, as well as abolishing tax deductions for them. Chernyshev noted that current legislation provides for sanctions for the operation of vehicles that violate permissible noise standards. However, according to him, these are not always effective.
According to the vice president, taking such measures will reduce the number of violations of acoustic comfort. Additionally, the introduction of a tax coefficient and the removal of incentives may encourage drivers to refuse to upgrade their vehicles.
State Duma deputy Sultan Khamzaev in August spoke With a proposal to allow police officers to unilaterally cancel the registration of vehicles that are too noisy. He noted that cameras with microphones could be used to bring the idea to life.
Previous experts appreciated MPs’ idea to plug motorcycles for a quiet ride.
