A car’s turbine often breaks down due to improper operating conditions and inadequate maintenance. Igor Boyarsky, director of the service and spare parts department of Avilon Tank, told socialbites.ca.
“Most often, turbines fail due to aggressive driving, refueling with low-quality fuel, the use of bad oil and operation in high temperature conditions,” Boyarsky said.
The expert explained that contaminated or incorrectly selected engine oil leads to rapid wear of bearings and other turbine components. High temperatures accelerate the aging of materials, so it is important to monitor the cooling system.
Increased pressure in the engine and irregular operation of the cylinders, as well as other problems in the power unit, negatively affect the turbine.
When driving a car, it is necessary to avoid sudden accelerations that cause heavy loads on the turbine, and to allow the engine and turbine to warm up before prolonged operation to prevent thermal shocks. The expert also noted that you should not turn off the engine immediately after the trip, but allow the turbine to run for a few minutes to cool down.
On average, the turbine resource is 200-250 thousand kilometers. The expert emphasized that units of car brands with a good reputation usually last longer, thanks to high-quality materials and modern technologies.
