To be, not to appear to be
The situation is very worrying: there are more and more counterfeit spare parts and consumables for sale that do not meet even the most basic requirements. What to do, some famous brands have left Russia, but we still want to buy their goods.
traffic accident has increased in price
A car can slow down badly for various reasons.
A flat tire, ice blocks, brake fluid leakage and many other factors can be the cause.
But the most unpleasant and rather frequent situation is the failure of brand new brake pads, and not just any, but with a big name. Nice packaging, well-known brand, solid price, but the pads are worthless. Low coefficient of friction, creaking friction material, separation of the liner from the steel base – all this can lead to a serious accident. Although even a minor accident is expensive these days.

But how can this happen with branded and expensive products? It’s simple: Taking advantage of the difficult situation, other businessmen have already managed to put up packages of useless brake pads for sale and give them false names. Say, they have a “firm” through their channels – grab it! And gullible buyers pay: Not everyone can distinguish a quality block from a worthless block, and that is not always possible.
What to replace?
In the current situation, it makes sense to pay attention to the budget products of domestic suppliers. The chances of encountering a fake here are minimal, and the properties of such products fully meet the requirements of current standards.
Our recent test of pads for the mechanical separation of the friction lining from the base confirmed the high reliability of such products, which managed to outperform their more eminent colleagues.
Rear brake pads for current Kia Rio/Hyundai Solaris models, as well as for Hyundai Accent and i20.
Front brake pads for Logan and Largus.
However, it is worth remembering that it is not worth wearing the brake pads to the extreme – this applies to products from any manufacturer. It is better to change them in advance, without waiting for the tedious metal-to-metal grinding.
For those already thinking about replacing the rear brake pads on their own, our illustrated hint will help.

On many vehicles, the parking brake actuator compresses the rear brake pads. The braking mechanism is similar to that on the front axle, with the exception of the brake pads being driven by the parking brake cable.
When replacing brake pads, simply “drowning” the pistons of the rear brake cylinders will not work. Therefore, you need to push and turn the piston at the same time. You can buy a special device, but it is quite possible to do the job with long-jawed pliers.
At the rear of the brake cylinder is a rotary lever, driven by a cable. A threaded rod is attached to the piston of the brake cylinder, which converts the rotation of the lever into the translational movement of the piston.
