AvtoVAZ signed an order to create a single car assembly plant, the Avtograd News source wrote about it early this week, adding a scan of the document itself to the post.
The essence is that now instead of separate factory departments – for welding, painting and assembling cars from the B0 platform (Lada Largus, XRAY, Renault Logan and Sandero), Lada Granta and the Niva family (Legend and Travel) – there is joint production of welding, painting and factory assembly as a whole.
Officially, the content and purpose of creating this document at AVTOVAZ are not disclosed. “We do not comment on our internal orders,” the company’s press service responded to a request from Behind the Wheel.
However, the most common unofficial version of such a restructuring is as follows: removing the differentiation of production according to different models, AVTOVAZ management gained the opportunity to quickly transfer workers from one site to another.
In the context of a semiconductor shortage and tougher sanctions, the cars on France’s B0 platform have been hit hardest, while Grant and both Niva have some chance of returning to their previous production pace.
