Yandex Taxi management does not expect a driver outflow from September 1, 2024, when the law on compulsory insurance policies for legal liability of carriers (OSGOP) comes into force. This is what it says TASS With reference to the company’s press service.
The message states that even after the introduction of new requirements, Yandex Taxi employees will have another 60 days to purchase an OSGOP policy. Moreover, insurance companies have not yet started selling documents for taxis.
“According to our data, they will start offering them from September 1 – we will publish offers from insurance companies in our apps for drivers and partners,” the press service said.
The company also noted that Yandex Taxi strives to ensure that drivers have online access to all types of mandatory insurance. Moreover, the service’s management tries to ensure that policies only cover the actual working time of the staff.
Taxi drivers in particular have recently had the opportunity to obtain a short-term MTPL policy. Service representatives explained that such documents are only valid on the days when drivers go to work.
“You can buy a policy directly in the mobile application used to work with taxi orders,” Yandex Taxi added.
From the press service it becomes clear that the company is ready to develop similar solutions for OSGOP. This will happen “if the regulations allow”.
In June 2023, the State Duma of the Russian Federation adopted a law in the second and third readings providing for the introduction of compulsory carrier liability insurance in the country. To obtain the appropriate policy, taxi drivers need a work permit, which is issued only if they have a waybill with a note stating that they have passed the daily technical inspection and fulfilled a number of other requirements.
