A bill was submitted to the State Duma to increase the period for the restoration of a vehicle under compulsory traffic insurance from 30 to 45 days. reports RIA Novosti cites the database of the lower house of parliament. The authors of the initiative are senators Andrei Kutepov and Valery Vasiliev.
“Under the pressure of sanctions, car repair dealers, service stations and insurance companies are faced with the problem of a shortage of spare parts and disruption of logistics chains that ensure timely delivery of car repairs. In connection with this bill, it is proposed to extend the period for the restoration of a damaged vehicle,” the message reads.
Before that, the Council of Ministers of the Russian Federation supported A bill proposing to increase the repair period of a car under compulsory traffic insurance to 45 days instead of the current 30 days.
“Conceptually, the possibility of extending the deadline is supported in cases where it is impossible to carry out restoration repairs of a vehicle within the period established by the law on compulsory traffic insurance,” the document states.
The government commission stressed that the initiative should be temporary. Measures should also be taken to prevent insurance companies from abusing the opportunity to extend repair periods.
