The head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade believes that the country needs to localize automobile factories and “revitalize” suppliers of consumables for industry. Alikhanov noted that many of them were “removed” from the market. In this way, he believes that Russia can compete with China.
It was previously reported that China should do this. to increase Import duties of up to 25% on large gasoline vehicles in response to US and EU restrictions on electric vehicles. This suggestion was voiced by Liu Bing, an expert at the China Automotive Technology and Research Center (CATARC), a state automotive research institution. According to him, a 25 percent tariff would comply with WTO rules and help balance the domestic and global auto markets. This measure will also promote the introduction of environmentally friendly transport as part of the country’s low-carbon development policy.
