“An independent inspection has not yet been carried out to carry out a full technical inspection of the vehicle, as the driver has still not returned the vehicle for inspection since May 2. The preliminary date for the vehicle to be examined by experts has been set as May 17. This will help us determine the cause of the fire and whether it is related to any manufacturing defect or the installation of relevant non-standard equipment,” RG stated in the GAC press service.

The fact that the Chinese GAC crossover caught fire while driving before refueling on the M-12 highway became known on May 14, 2024.

According to the shot, Alexey (name changed) and his wife were traveling from relatives to Moscow from Orenburg. At the gas station, smoke began billowing from under the hood and the driver’s door immediately caught fire. At first Alexey could not stop the car, then his seat belt jammed. While the man was trying to get out, he suffered severe burns on his face, arms and legs, all his clothes stuck to the burning parts of his body, and the hair on his head was also burned. Meanwhile, his wife jumped out while walking.

It was noted that gas station employees helped extinguish the car. The front part of the car was completely burned. Maintenance was done before the trip.

The GAC car was purchased from a dealer a year ago. The cost of the car is 2.6 million rubles. The driver himself will be treated in a Moscow hospital until the end of this week.
