Russian Baic dealers have started accepting orders for Baic U5 Plus CNG dual-fuel sedans that can use compressed natural gas (methane) as fuel. This was stated in a message from the distribution company Baik Rus.
The dual-fuel Baic U5 Plus CNG was developed by engineers at the Kaliningrad Avtotor plant. When using gasoline and natural gas engine fuel, the sedan can travel 1.5 times longer than the regular gasoline version.
The sedan is equipped with one 80-litre or two 39.1-litre methane cylinders, depending on the version. Natural gas is fed to the engine via the gas line using an integrated fuel rail. In addition to gasoline injectors, a reducer, filter and filling device are also installed, as well as gas injectors.
Gas equipment is installed in the factory. The price of the car is 2.24 million rubles.
