“Seven” has incorporated several new elements for the brand, which were previously presented separately.

  • Double-decker headlights a week before the flagship was shown on the redesigned X7 crossover.
  • Recessed exterior door handles were the first to try the iX electric SUV.
  • The license plate is well below the level of the lights (but still not on the bumper) previously seen on the Gran Coupé and coupe crossovers, but not on the classic sedan.

A new approach to the design of executive sedans was unveiled by the Mercedes S-class W222: the car was originally developed in a long-wheelbase version, and then a shortened version was created.

The BMW 7 Series G70 will generally only be elongated. Measuring 5391 × 1950 × 1544 mm, the wheelbase (3215 mm) is 5 mm longer than that of the extended version of the previous generation. Notifications come to the mobile application and – as the makers assure – earlier than the usual system signals. Artificial intelligence can predict when tread wear becomes critical.

Therefore, the 760th hybrid, which has 190 kg lighter, more powerful and more torque, is more dynamic: 4.3 s to 100 km/h. Benzoelectric sedans are equipped with 200 horsepower electric motors and drive 84-89 km in an environmentally friendly way.

If you want the fastest ‘seven’, then the BMW 760i is on the American market: 2270 kg and 4.2 s to one hundred. But the future top versions of the M7 and i7 M70 should be as cool as possible.

The large media display is, in BMW tradition, slightly turned towards the driver and from the new it has a built-in YouTube. Ventilation deflectors have been made as inconspicuous as possible, there are no physical keys to be found. The backlighting is not simple, but comes through a crystal insert on the panel and doors.

In general, the theme “crystal” is actively used. It houses the seat adjustment buttons and the iDrive joystick. The latter is already a rudimentary one in the presence of voice and gesture control. Recycled materials are used extensively in the decoration and cashmere is part of the upholstery range.

Technic

The heart of the seventh series is the rear-wheel drive platform CLAR. It was originally designed for cars with internal combustion engines, so a purely electric version is a product of modification. All “old” adjustments [1], three petrol engines and one diesel, are equipped with a starter generator built into an 8-speed automatic transmission. In terms of chassis, all “sevens” are the same: a front wheel with two levers, a rear wheel with five levers, an adaptive air suspension with automatically changing ground clearance depending on the speed of movement. Due to the different design of the floor and the front air intakes, the drag coefficient of the electric car is 0.24 and the versions with combustion engines is 0.26. The rear electric motor pressed lightly on the underside of the floor, giving the BMW i7 a trunk volume of 500 liters – 40 liters less than other versions.
