In China, the 1.5 turbo engine is the basis for the Dargo. But for Russia it was not certified – just a more powerful 2.0. The engine was tuned to 192 forces, which made the load more favorable. Acceleration to hundreds according to the passport fits in 10 s.
Although with today’s high new car prices it would be nice to have an alternative option – weaker and therefore cheaper.
A trailer hitch is included in the specification (in the OTTS) of the car, which not all manufacturers do now. Dargo can pull up to two tons.
Not every medium crossover can boast of such an array of space in the cabin. In the second row, extreme passengers have a huge margin on their knees. Yes, and the feet can be easily attached under the front seats.
The three of us in the back will also be comfortable – the soft cushion does not push the passenger towards the ceiling, the central tunnel is almost invisible. True, you have to pay for this with the capacity of the trunk. The indicated volume is only 333 liters. By comparison, the more compact Hyundai Creta crossover has 100 liters more.
From the front, Dargo resembles Gelendevagen. And the whole silhouette as a whole looks more like a serious SUV than a crossover. Touches!
The interior was a success: natural perforated leather, bright orange inserts, interesting door cards with massive handles and unusual bottle caps. The media system’s large display, digitally neat with new graphics demonstrate a high level of technology.
Serious ergonomic miscalculations, on the face of it, no. Perhaps they will stand out during a full test drive.
In two top trim levels you can choose the color of the finish: black or beige. Orange inserts and spots of the same color are in any case.
Dargo has a rare feature for a crossover – a “transparent hood”. The central display shows an image of what is happening directly under the front wheels.
The parking attendant can remember the last 50 m of the route. This is to make it easier for the driver to leave the parking lot. Activate the function and Dargo repeats this fifty meters in reverse order.
This Haval is able to avoid an accident. The feeling of the car being pressed against it in the adjacent lane will deviate slightly from it (but only within the lane boundaries).
And Dargo was the first of the Khaveils in Russia to receive a knee airbag, speed limiter and remote start via a mobile application on a smartphone.
Dargo has also certified a variant with a more off-road design in Russia, but there are no plans to sell this version yet.
Externally, the Haval Dargo looks like a frame, but this is a typical crossover. The clutch is responsible for connecting the rear wheels, and the basic version for 3.2 million rubles is front-wheel drive. However, there is 200mm of clearance under the underside of the car, and of the eight driving modes, five are designed for off-road use. And the body kit is unpainted, there are huge steps. So outside the asphalt Dargo is not allowed to fold.
What’s the price?
Dargo is 240-320 thousand rubles more expensive than the four-wheel drive F7 with 190 horsepower in the same trim levels and costs from 3.2 to 3.75 million rubles. Not cheap, but now in our market there are “Chinese” and more expensive. And it’s not always better.
