In the long term, AvtoVAZ plans to develop a new model of an electric car, said the head of the car giant Maxim Sokolov. He does not believe that this will create competition with KAMAZ, which is developing in parallel. Most importantly, only highly localized enterprises that have signed an appropriate agreement with the Ministry of Industry and Trade will receive state aid.
“In a long-term strategy, we have set ourselves the task of developing an electric vehicle. What the appearance will be, will it be a hybrid or a pure electric car, well, it will probably determine the future, including the future of the development of electric vehicles in the world, because of course we have to comply with global trends , also if someone doesn’t want to work with AVTOVAZ,” he said in an interview with Izvestia.
At the same time, the internal combustion engine era “still has certain prospects, at least within the next decade,” and the Lada range will be developed precisely on this traditional technology, Sokolov noted.
He did not rule out the production of electric scooters as a by-product, especially since the factory produces electric unmanned “carts” for internal logistics. No strategic opportunity should be denied, he said.
Recall that the model of the electric car at AVTOVAZ already exists, it ELLada, which was developed when the company was headed by Igor Komarov in 2011. This electric car is built on a chassis lada Kalina and is probably outdated. Then a pilot batch of 100 cars was produced, after which the project came to a standstill. It was believed that Hellas would cost 960 thousand rubles, which was not cheap at that time. It is known that such electric cars are in the possession of the head of Rostec Sergey Chemezov, the king of Jordan and the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov.
