Meeting with Putin on the car industry: highlights

Vladimir Putin held a meeting on the car industry, where he pointed out that everything must be done to ensure the work of the Russian car industry and retain its workforce.

Anti-crisis programs are now being adopted, but you have to understand that they are temporary and that the Russian car industry needs to develop despite the sanctions.

Factories and production

One of the priority tasks set by the president is to ensure that auto plants function properly and to maintain teams of qualified specialists. Provide the production with the necessary components. At the same time, “technical developments, intellectual property rights and know-how must, of course, be Russian.”

It is necessary to saturate our market with cars, especially cars, “whose prices have risen sharply this year.”

Ask about commercial vehicles

The commercial vehicle market could face a demand shortfall this year as companies and transportation companies are now in no rush to invest in fleet renewal and analyze the current market and logistics situation. In this situation, they should be offered a comprehensive demand support program.

We must not forget the environmental friendliness of products. Now, to overcome the crisis, many are simplifying technologies, lowering the environmental class of technology. “If we massively lower the environmental class of Russian trucks, it could affect the market positions of our carriers, they are simply not allowed, which means that drivers will also have to deal with employment problems”Putin warned.

The president also addressed the program to build and repair support roads connecting small towns and villages. Within five years, 88% of such routes should be in a satisfactory condition.

The head of state promised that a package of decisions would be prepared based on the results of the current meeting and was instructed to approve an updated strategy for the development of the domestic auto industry by September 1.
