US regulators have begun reviewing 16 recalls of Hyundai and Kia vehicles due to fire risks from brake fluid leaks. In this respect reports Reuters.
As part of a campaign of 19 recalls since 2016, the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) will evaluate the timeliness of automakers’ decisions and reporting on detected defects. The regulator also aims to compare various descriptions of defects identified as part of recall campaigns carried out and methods to eliminate them.
Hyundai and Kia have recalled approximately 6.4 million vehicles since 2016 due to possible brake fluid leaks in ABS units, which can lead to brake fluid leaks and fires. Vehicle owners were advised to park outside the facility until the fault was resolved.
