Volkswagen Atlas accused of sudden braking without driver command 19:20

The Volkswagen Atlas crossover (sold as Teramont in Russia) is the subject of an investigation by the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) due to owner complaints about spontaneous brake application. In this respect reports Carbuzz.

If NHTSA’s investigation confirms deficiencies on the automaker’s part, the troubled Atlas could be recalled by the automaker for repairs. The issue potentially affects 184.2 thousand vehicles of this model produced in 2018-2019.

Vehicle owners complained that their vehicles’ automatic emergency braking system was activated for no apparent reason. NHTSA received a total of 59 complaints, five of which potentially involved personal injury. One of the owners stated that he was traveling at approximately 48 km/h when the vehicle suddenly stopped and warning lights illuminated on the dashboard. Moving forward by inertia, the driver almost hit the steering wheel. At the same time, there were no other cars in front or behind the car.

Previously Toyota’s presented Sports version of Land Cruiser.
