Because in Russia Stellantis fewer assets than Renault, Group CEO Carlos Tavares has previously said the maker of the Jeep, Peugeot and Fiat brands will stop exporting and importing to and from Russia.
Then he “forgot” to mention PSMA Rus’ factory in Kaluga, which produces about 11,000 cars a year.
Tavares said Russia makes between $20 million and $30 million annually, which Bloomberg says will not significantly impact the automaker’s overall performance.
For now, Stellantis keeps a job from his factory, although he says he works with reduced productivity. It may have to close completely due to logistics and supply issues.
Tavares also suggested that Stellantis could relocate some of its van production from its Kaluga plant to the Group’s plants in Hordain (France) and Luton (England).
Company “PSMA Russian” (Peugeot Lemon Mitsubishi) opened in 2010. Later, PSA merged with FIAT-Chrysler to form a single concern, Stellantis.
The plant produces Peugeot Expert and Partner, Opel Combo Cargo, Citroën Jumpy and Berlingo models, Peugeot Traveler minibuses, Citroen SpaceTourer, Opel Zafira Life and Opel Combo Life compact MPV.
The company’s total capacity is 125,000 vehicles per year and it now employs 1,800 people.
