According to unofficial sources, the production of the new Lada Vesta NG has been suspended. However, AvtoVAZ denies this information, although it admits that there are problems with the components. Dealers also complain about the incomplete delivery of Lada cars that they cannot put up for sale. Newspaper “News” published a report on the situation.
According to the unofficial public opinion of the automobile plant in Togliatti, on July 24 production of the Lada Vesta was stopped, and the employees began to complete the assembly of the missing cars.
But AvtoVAZ immediately denied this information. Representatives of the plant said that the plan for the production of Lada Vesta and the delivery of cars to the distribution network has been fulfilled. They also acknowledged issues with the components, but noted that this is a controlled situation.
Despite this, dealers complain about the missing deliveries of Lada Vesta. Alexei Podshchekoldin, previously head of the Russian Association of Automobile Dealers (ROAD), said that up to 70 percent of Lada Vesta cars that entered car dealerships are missing. He stated that these vehicles do not have ERA-GLONASS emergency call system and edge multimedia systems. Thus, although AvtoVAZ fulfills its car shipment plan, most of them cannot be sold.
But there is also a rationale for delivering missing cars to dealers: Once the defects are fixed, the cars are delivered faster to customers in areas far from Togliatti.
