Drivers from Uzbekistan are more likely to have an accident in Russia

In 2021, the number of accidents at the hands of foreigners increased, with a total of 5,000 such accidents (+6% year-on-year). 431 people died in them, 6 thousand 709 were injured, according to the information and analytical assessment of the National Road Safety Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, to which TASS refers.

The review notes that the numbers rose against the background of a significant drop in accidents in 2020, when containment measures related to the pandemic were in place, which significantly reduced the number of foreigners living in the Russian Federation.

Last year, citizens of Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan were most often responsible for traffic accidents in Russia involving foreign drivers.

Data for 2021 (number of accidents):

  • due to the debt of the citizens of Uzbekistan, 1 thousand 290
  • Kyrgyzstan – 1 thousand 92
  • Tajikistan – 894

According to the severity of the consequences in the event of an accident due to the fault of drivers of the CIS, the highest indicator among citizens of Kazakhstan and Belarus, who are not related to the CIS, is among citizens of Turkey.
