AVTOVAZ’s trade union organization announced that the company has signed a downtime order from May 16 to May 20, 2022. The lack of components for the assembly of new cars is cited as the reason for the introduction of the standby mode. A message about this appeared in the official account of the organization in the social network VKontakte.
Within the specified period, workers “who were not involved in urgent work to ensure the operation of AVTOVAZ, the manufacture of spare parts and work on new projects” were paid 2/3rd of the average wage, the source said.
Not only the factory in Tolyatti is in a difficult situation, but also Lada Izhevsk (photo), where the Lada Vesta family is assembled. There were reports that this production could stop until the autumn, but the AvtoVAZ press service denied this information.
According to unofficial information (the press service of the manufacturer does not comment on the work schedule), the assembly of cars never resumed after the May holidays at the AVTOVAZ plants in Tolyatti and Izhevsk. Employees of industrial sites and subsidiaries are engaged in domestic work, spare parts production and public works. In addition, according to independent sources, the employee is paid 2/3 of the average salary to pay for the household.
- AVTOVAZ also indexed salaries ahead of schedule, switched to the use of alternative components and is preparing the release of simplified configurations of Lada models.
