We are talking about Vehicle Type Approvals (OTTS), which are issued by Rosstandart. Now cars produced in “unfriendly countries” are not allowed to receive them.
Rosstandart is considering various applications for new products from BMW, Volkswagen, Porsche, Bentley, Mercedes-Benz and Ducati, Izvestia writes. To approve them, it is necessary to conduct an inspection check of the plants. But how to do now?
“We understand that under the current circumstances we cannot inspect companies that produce models for which certification applications have been submitted. In view of the failures in the delivery of components and especially electronic components, we cannot guarantee that these models meet the requirements of the Technical Regulations. In order not to cancel the issued OTTS in the future, a decision is being discussed to temporarily suspend their signing. As soon as the situation stabilizes and Rosstandart specialists are able to carry out the necessary inspections, the certification of these models will be carried out in Russia in accordance with the established procedure, “explained Alexander Kuzmin, head of the Department of Metrology, State Control and Supervision from Rosstandard.
Remember that without OTTS, no car, motorcycle or chassis can be sold in Russia. And now, due to the impossibility of inspecting factories, cars from unfriendly countries will not be able to get it.
The list of such countries (according to the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 430 of March 5, 2022) includes: all countries of the European Union, Australia, Albania, Andorra, Great Britain, Iceland, Canada, Liechtenstein, Micronesia , Monaco, New Zealand, Norway, Republic of Korea, San Marino, North Macedonia, Singapore, United States of America, Taiwan, Ukraine, Montenegro, Switzerland and Japan.
But if the car is planned to be produced in a Russian factory, then getting OTTS for it will not be a problem, Alexander Kuzmin noted.
