Production is planned by a woodworking company at the automaker Ford’s former factory in Vsevolozhsk, in the Leningrad region. This was reported in the regional committee for economic development and investment activity, transmits TASS.
According to the committee, the site of the former Ford plant in the Leningrad region belongs to the auto parts manufacturer, but it had to suspend the process of starting production. According to the report, part of the territory is leased by a woodworking plant, the investor is operating in production debug mode.
The woodworking company signed an agreement to lease some of the plant’s land in 2022. Following the cessation of production and sales of Ford cars in Russia, the site where Ford Focus and Mondeo were produced was transferred to South Korean auto parts manufacturer Sungwoo Hitech (SV Rus LLC) at the end of 2021.
At the end of last year, TASS reported, citing the administration of the Leningrad Region, that Sungwoo Hitech indefinitely postponed the start of production at the former Ford plant.
