Old asphalt will be actively used for road repair

Rosavtodor held a tender to study the practical application of cold recycling technology in road construction, reconstruction and overhaul. The contract for 26.4 million rubles will be signed with the Rosasfalt Association. With cold recycling, old asphalt is ground up at the repair site, mixed with crushed stone, sand, cement or bitumen – and reused.

Of the advantages – low cost, relative simplicity, high repair rate. But the surface turns out to be very hard – which, on the one hand, is an advantage, and on the other hand, complicates the subsequent repair of underground facilities. The second point is the noise and dust produced during the repair. Together, these factors give cold recycling a scope: country roads. In addition, statistics on the effectiveness of the method are not yet available (it has been used in one way or another in Russia since the 2000s). These are the gaps the new study aims to fill.
