My father passed away in the summer. His car has passed to me, but within six months I have to wait for the inheritance law to come into effect. In September it is time for routine maintenance, which must not be missed in order not to lose the warranty. When I drove the car to the MOT, the traffic police stopped almost immediately and said that the license plate had been crossed out and the numbers had been searched. In addition, they were fined. Is it legal? How should it be now?

The head of the Main Directorate of Road Safety of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, Lieutenant General of Police Mikhail Chernikov, answers questions from readers. |
In accordance with the Federal Law of August 3, 2018 No. 283-FZ “On State Registration of Vehicles in the Russian Federation and on Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of the Russian Federation”, the presence of information on the death of the vehicle owner one of the grounds is to terminate the registration of the vehicle.
As a rule, this information is provided to the National Traffic Inspectorate by the relevant registration office. In this case state registration marks and registration documents will be invalidated and are entered by the registration unit in the relevant search records of the lost special products of the National Traffic Inspectorate.
Driving such a vehicle is prohibited, and for violation of this prohibition, the driver is held liable under Part 1 of Article 12.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation in the form of an administrative fine of 500 to 800 rubles. This means that the actions of the employees of the National Traffic Inspectorate are lawful.
Only after the expiry of the legal term for entering into the estate will it be possible to resume the state registration of the vehicle and thus have full disposal of it, including maintenance. You must register with the correct application at the registration department of the National Traffic Inspectorate.
