According to the study, every third Russian faces motion sickness in transportation (30%), according to a survey by SberEapteka and SberAvto.
Among them, 71% of respondents feel bad in the passenger seat, and the rest even while driving (29%).
Every sixth periodically gets motion sickness (15%), and 9% – only during a long journey.
Causes
Most Russians are sure that the intensity of motion sickness in a car depends on the driver’s skill: if he drives smoothly, the symptoms appear less (31%). 13% note that motion sickness is stronger in traffic jams, 4% believe that unpleasant sensations are more common in “mechanics”, another 4% – that motion sickness is more common in budget cars.
Symptoms
The most common symptom during motion sickness is nausea, with 45% reporting this.
Other symptoms include:
- general weakness – 29%
- dizziness – 22%
- gagging – 11%
- headache – 9%
- palpitations – 7%.
How they fight
28% do not suffer from motion sickness in any way, 25% make a stopover if possible to get some fresh air (24%). 19% do not look at the phone or a book while driving, 16% sit down in the front seat, same thing mints or chewing gum. 9% take pills against motion sickness and 8% avoid food before a long journey.
Most often, antiemetics are taken during motion sickness (10%). Antihistamines and tranquilizers are also in demand – 4% each.
