In some cases, the battle for ecology is taking on increasingly uglier forms. Eco activists suddenly switched from paintings to crossover bands.
The Tire Extinguishers movement has no leader, but these people were able to organize for a little dirty trick – blowing up the tires on thousands of SUVs as part of a global campaign, the goal of which is stated to “make it impossible to an SUV (crossover)”.
Since March 2022, they have punctured the tires of more than 10,000 SUVs and crossovers, according to information from the movement’s official website. The biggest action took place on the night of 28 to 29 November. Hooligans blew up the tires of 900 cars in 19 cities in 8 different countries (New York, Zurich, Amsterdam…). In their statement, the “defenders” of the environment promised that this is just the first massive action of many to come.
You can find out it was the eco-activist who blew your car’s tires from the pamphlet slid under the windshield wiper (and the debris under the flat tire cap). It gives a dissonant explanation for vandalism: this is how they want to protect the owner of the car himself, driving such a non-environmentally friendly vehicle.
Activists are also demanding that SUVs and crossovers be banned in cities, taxed and the money spent on public transport development.
At the same time, the activists themselves do not know what they are fighting: on their website there is a memo on how to distinguish SUVs and crossovers from other cars. As it turns out, this is a car that is “much bigger than regular cars, towers over them and takes up a lot of space.” So that the activist, who feels a great responsibility for the environment, does not mix things up, photos of Land Rover Discovery, Volvo XC90, Jeep Compass, Nissan Juke (!), Qashqai, X-Trail and Toyota RAV4 are immediately posted. Next comes the “How to deflate an SUV tire” section with detailed instructions (it even explains which way to turn the cap).
You will be surprised, but these people lower the wheels and electric crossovers, because they are sure that such a body is unsafe for pedestrians and other road users.
“We want to show that everyone can participate in the fight against climate change to end the dominance of big cars in the world’s cities. Our movement will continue to grow – once an idea is born, it cannot be stopped. Governments and politicians have failed to protect us from these huge garbage trucks. SUVs are a climate disaster, pollute the air and are dangerous to other road users. They are hated by everyone except those who ride them. Polite pleas for action on climate change and safer streets have fallen on deaf ears. It’s time to act, “- shakes the air a certain Marion Walker, a representative of Tire Extinguishers.
This “children’s fun” can reach our country, so check the tires of your cars before driving while warming up the engine and clearing the snow.
