The owner of the truck applied to the Saransk police, testifying about the theft. Law enforcement officers found a car in a ditch in the village of Penzyatka. Two 17-year-old teenagers were involved in the theft.
“It turned out that a parked van had caught the suspects’ attention at night. One of the teenagers pulled the driver’s door and the door opened due to a malfunction. There was a key in the ignition lock. Friends decided to ride,” said the policeman.
The young people took turns traveling around Saransk in a truck, after which they left the city and reached Penzyatka. There, one of the hijackers lost control – the car skidded and fell into a ditch. Passers-by offered help, but the youth, fearing responsibility, fled. A criminal case was brought under Art. 166 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (theft without the purpose of theft). The youths were released to testify.
