The dimensions of the Duster of Crete have been skilfully concealed: with a length of 4.4 m there is a lot of space both in the cabin and in the trunk. The handlebars are height-adjustable only, but I didn’t feel a frank lack of reach adjustment.
In the back it is so spacious that Moskvitch 3 taxis are happy to wait. The back of the sofa is a little strewn, but these are trifles. Surprisingly, the luggage compartment is spacious at the same time, and its large volume is combined with the possibility of placing a full-fledged spare wheel under the floor. True, so far on Muscovites assembled from Chinese car kits – only a dokatka.
Moskvich is based on the Chinese crossover JAC JS4. The model is not old, a few years old. But Moscow cars have an important difference – a more powerful top engine.
For example, the JS4 has extracted 136 hp from the 1.5 turbo engine. and 200N.m, then Moskvich has 150 hp. and 210N.m. The torque is lower than that of the Renault 150 TCe turbo engines (there were 250 N.m with the same 150 hp).
But Moskvich has only front-wheel drive and a semi-independent rear suspension, and because of its lightness, it can be more lively on the road. Especially with the six-speed manual transmission.
The Punch VT3S variator is offered as an alternative. In time, they also promise an aspirated 1.6 (108 hp) with manual transmission.
The headlights are located in the bumper, and on top – DRL. They are LED, even in basic configurations.
There are no prices and trim levels yet, but even the cars presented at the presentation in the “medium” versions did not look naked. Sunroof, armrest, diffusers and USB sockets for rear passengers, Autohold function, 17″ alloy wheels, 10″ screen.
The plastic seems hard, but there are many decorative overlays that look rich. In general, it looks modern and harmonious.
Wealthy Muscovites receive an electronic instrument panel, an all-round visibility system, LED headlights and even an option, unusual for small crossovers, as an electric tailgate. Incidentally, it already opens at a sufficient height.
There is no official data on the volume of the trunk yet, but it’s good. Petrol tank – 50 liters. It is allowed to fill AI-92.
What’s cool: the same team that worked at Renault Russia will refine Moskvich to our reality – both product specialists and engineers. If the eastern partners help, then in a few years Moskvich 3 can acquire a reputation no worse than that of Kaptyur or Arcana.
