In Kazakhstan, an initiative group appealed to the government with a demand to withdraw the decree allowing the production in the republic of cars with low-eco-class engines, without ABS, airbags and SOS buttons.
The Kazakh authorities published such a decision on November 4. It was decided to reduce the requirements for manufactured cars in order to support national manufacturers assembling cars of Russian brands – Lada and UAZ. Let’s recall that in the spring the listed indulgences were accepted in Russia.
Now both Russian brands in Kazakhstan are outsourced to the SaryarkaAvtoProm multi-brand plant in Kostanay – according to early media reports, UAZs have been assembled there since mid-2019, Ladas since March 2021.
It is interesting that these brands still do not appear in the catalog of the plant’s products, although they can still be listed on the official website of the company.
Be that as it may, the initiative group that applied to the government of Kazakhstan believes that the production of such cars will have a detrimental effect on the environment and will greatly contribute to an increase in the number of accidents.
