In 2024, funding will be allocated to develop and rebuild roads in selected regions under a state program focused on expanding the transport network. The objective is to accelerate improvements so communities notice tangible progress sooner rather than later.
The program targets several regions, including:
- Mordovia
- Tatarstan
- Astrakhan region
- Kaliningrad region
- Leningrad region
- Penza region
- St. Petersburg
Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin explained that additional funds are intended to speed up the completion of road construction and reconstruction in these areas. The focus is on delivering concrete results promptly, with visible benefits for daily travel and regional connectivity.
Examples of planned projects include the expansion of a highway in Saransk along Stroitelnaya Street. This work features a viaduct over railway lines and the Insar River, linking the Khimmmash and Svetotekhstroy microdistricts and improving access across the area. In St. Petersburg, a new traffic interchange is planned at the intersection of Moskovsky Highway and Dunaysky Prospekt to provide pedestrian access to the M-10 highway, enhancing safety and traffic flow for residents and commuters.
Kaliningrad is set to see reconstruction along portions of the city’s northern bypass, while Astrakhan will finalize the eastern bypass project to bolster regional transit efficiency. These efforts align with broader national priorities to modernize infrastructure, reduce congestion, and support economic activity across the regions involved.
The majority of these facilities are being organized under the oversight of the presidential administration, ensuring alignment with national strategic goals and timely progression from planning to execution. These efforts reflect ongoing commitments to create safer roads, shorten travel times, and improve the reliability of regional transport links for people, businesses, and visitors alike.
