In Rostov-on-Don, investigators opened a criminal case following an accident that involved five teenagers and resulted in the death of a minor, according to the Regional Investigative Committee’s supervisory directorate.
During the night of February 26, a 16-year-old driver operating a Ford Focus lost control, left the roadway, and collided with a tree on Kaskadnaya Street. The crash left the driver and three other teenagers, aged 16 and 15, hospitalized with injuries of varying severity, while a 16-year-old passenger died at the scene.
The investigation has been initiated under paragraph c of part 4 of article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, which concerns violations of traffic rules or the operation of vehicles undertaken with negligence that leads to a death. Investigators are interviewing eyewitnesses and compiling a full account of all circumstances surrounding the incident.
Reports circulating on the Telegram channel Don Mash claim that one of the youths who was in the accident was riding in his mother’s car at the time. The official inquiry continues to establish the factual sequence and determine accountability in relation to the events of that night.
