The Russian Defense Ministry reported that on the morning of August 6, Ukrainian forces began advancing deeply into the Kursk region, attacking Russian positions near Oleshnya and Nikolaevo-Daryino. On August 8, fighting was noted within the Sudzhansky and Korenevsky districts, and on the evening of August 9, a counter-terrorism operation CTO regime was declared in the Belgorod, Bryansk, and Kursk regions.

Kursk regional deputy governor Alexey Smirnov stated that around 2,000 people remain under enemy occupation, with their exact fates still unclear. He noted that 28 settlements across the Kursk region were under Ukrainian control and that the infiltration reached a depth of about 12 kilometers into regional territory.
