Insurance companies are insisting that the use of used components for OSAGO repairs is necessary due to the ongoing shortage of spare parts and are planning to discuss this with the Central Bank, writes Izvestia.
In the current situation, according to the Russian Union of Motor Insurance, it is necessary to consider such options. It’s impossible to order about 15-30% of parts now, both analog and originals, the companies added. It may be worth introducing temporary lighting, taking into account brands and countries of manufacture.
Continuing parts shortages and supply problems forced the share of cash payments from March to September to increase by about 40% this year compared to the same period in 2021.
Contrary to expectations, ordering original parts via parallel import has not yet been fully earned. The shortage is most critical for BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, Rover, Ford and Cadillac cars. The delivery time for some items is up to two months or more.
In addition, it is necessary to extend the repair times under insurance from 30 to 60 days or not to take into account the delivery time of parts. As there are more gas stations refusing to repair under OSAGO due to failing to meet the legal requirement of 30 days, insurers note.
