Small-scale models Lada Granta Kub and Lada Niva Kub from the Nizhny Novgorod company “Promtech” will go on sale in the near future. Now both “cubes” are being certified, Lada.Online reports. In terms of layout from the front bumper to the front seat backs, the cars are identical to the standard models, and then there is an original design with a power cage made of steel pipes and composite panels glued to it.
Despite all the seemingly adventurous ventures, the design may well turn out to be a success, as Promtech is far from a newcomer to the market. The company specializes in the production of light vans and special vehicles based on Lada – it is not the first time they have worked with composites and original superstructures.
In addition, on the AVTOVAZ website, in the commercial vehicle section, until recently, the official manufacturer, that is, the partner company, was indicated. And “Promtech” was mentioned there along with the well-known VIS. For the products of such companies, AVTOVAZ reserves the warranty and service at Lada service centers.
The Lada Granta Kub model was created on the basis of the VIS-2349 semi-frame truck. The power source is standard here: a 1.6 engine with 90 hp. and a five step. And the place of the usual cargo space of the van was taken by a superstructure with frame panel and seats inside. There is an extra door on the starboard side, the left one is deaf. But in the back there are revolving doors like Lada Largus.
Similarities with Largus can also be found in Lada Niva Kub – very similar second-row seats are used here, the right side of which opens the passage to the rear. After all, unlike the Granta Kub, the SUV-based minivan will have eight seats, with three seats in the second and third rows. That is, even one more than Largus’s, whose third row can only accommodate two.
The classic engine of the “cubic” Niva was overclocked from 83 to 106 hp and the transmission remained standard. Whether this is sufficient for a four-wheel drive car with a full load will become clear after the first tests. And they’re just around the corner – Niva Kub should be on sale before the end of this year. They promise to sell Granta Kub even earlier – early November.
- By the way, next year the Niva Legend should have more power – they want to install a 1.8 engine with an efficiency of 122 hp on the Sport version.
- “Behind the Wheel” can be seen on RuTube.
