During the week, in many car media, thematic audiences and just in private accounts on social networks, information was actively disseminated that vandals had stolen a unique collection of exhibits from the AVTOVAZ museum. Photos taken on the territory of the park complex of the history of the technology named after. KG. Sakharov in Tolyatti they show cars, many of which are in a rather deplorable condition.
It probably all started with this video, in which the author, without any negative connotations, provides information about the exhibits stored in the open part of the museum. But the title of the video was probably the catalyst. And some media, picking up the subject, began to inflate the story of vandals, looting and destruction.
However, a rebuttal soon emerged that some looting or destruction had taken place. The administration of the complex stated that some of the exhibits have already been damaged and subsequently restored. Given the uniqueness of many cars, it is simply impossible to carry out a restoration in a short time.
One of the main pavilions where already restored cars are exhibited for visitors
Some of the most valuable or already restored exhibits transferred to the museum’s collection are in covered pavilions, some are in open spaces, such as the entire park complex as a whole. In particular, some of the experimental VAZ vehicles transferred to the park complex in 2014 are in open sheds. During the transfer, the cars were in a different technical condition: the exhibits brought in a satisfactory condition are presented in the current exhibition on the territory of the covered hangar, and the samples requiring major repairs (incomplete copies, plastic models, etc.) are located in the repair and restoration place of the exhibition samples. , they say in the museum.
The press service of the park complex emphasizes that work is underway to create covered storage facilities for organizing storage areas, where the exhibits to be restored will be moved.
Some of the exhibits are already awaiting restoration in covered pavilions. But many still spend their time in the open air
Thus, the scandal that flared up at the suggestion of dishonest journalists seemed extinguished. However, users in the comments compare photos from different years and rightly note that some exhibits are still falling into disrepair and are at the disposal of the museum: for example, the only Chevrolet Niva VAZ-2110-M4 prototype with headlights lost its headlights over the past year, and also left doors.
So the “vandals” actually turned out to be fake, but I wish the museum management would start work as soon as possible to preserve the rarest equipment, including Oka-2 city cars, Silhouette sedans and various futuristic Lada concepts, exhibited in recent years at the largest car fairs in the world.
- An American citizen collected a collection of more than a thousand rare cars, and after his death they were auctioned.
