In September 2022, sales of new cars, light commercial vehicles and pick-ups in Russia totaled 53,385 units, down 55.3%, according to Avtostat Info and ACM Holding.
The source also cites sales statistics since the beginning of the year: 527,478 units were sold, which is 57.5% less than in the same period in 2021.
Sales results for September and for the three quarters of 2022:
- Passenger cars: September 2022 – 47,410 units (-56.2%), January-September 2022 – 469,368 units. (-58.7%);
- Of these electric vehicles: September 2022 – 251 units. (54.9%), January-September 2022 – 1,630 units. (21.9%);
- Light commercial vehicles: vehicles including trucks of category N1 and buses of category M2: September 2022 – 5,264 units. (-48.1%), January-September 2022 – 52,888 units. (-44.3%);
- Collections: September 2022 – 711 units (-34.5%), January-September 2022 – 5,222 units. (-29.7%).
It should be noted that the data does not relate to sales to law enforcement and diplomatic structures in the Russian Federation.
The only steadily growing market segment is therefore electric vehicles. However, due to the insignificant volumes, it is probably premature to talk about any trend. Overall, experts predict a 55% decline in the auto market for the full year.
